I own about six silk robes now. SIX! I used to hate “slippery” fabrics but now I can’t get enough—in the form of robes. I still hate “slippery” pajamas. But there’s just something about a shower or bath and a silk robe that makes my whole night. I recently bought this one
from Kim + Ono and I wear it almost every night. How gorgeous is that peacock?!
Wanna know something else I’m completely taken with? The artwork of Boriana Mihailovska. I’ve already bought three pieces (I’m still trying to find the perfect frame for the last piece I bought).
The third piece I bought is 18″x 24″ and will go on the wall behind (and above) these two eventually, but I’m still ruminating on whether that’s the best setup. Ya know? I want to make sure they are displayed perfectly because I love them so much! Also not one hundred percent sure if these are the perfect frames–I keep second guessing myself–but they’re the ones I like best so far.
I went to Paris on Ponce to find a large vintage-looking floor mirror, and I found a couple that I really liked but— Guys, I’m just really afraid of mirrors, ok! My older cousins tortured me when I was little with Bloody Mary and I can’t stand large mirrors! I mean, I love the way they look, but I do not like the fact that they could be a gateway to the ghost of Bloody Mary! Buying one, living with it, and just getting over this ridiculousness would likely be cheaper than going to therapy, so that’s probably what I’ll end up doing. I’m nothing if not frugal. But part of me wants to go to therapy just so I can send my cousins the bill. Jerks.
Tracee Ellis Ross. I love her! She’s so feminine–but still goofy, and I’m obsessed with ninety percent of her fashion looks. I don’t know what I’ll do if she ever decides to stop posting on Instagram. What will I do?! I don’t even want to think about it.
I mean, look at the glowing skin and bright lip! Legendary.
I’ve been listening to the Beyonce songs on the Lion King soundtrack on repeat for the last few days. My favorites are Mood 4 Eva and Brown Skin Girl. Just a constant, unyielding repeat of those two songs. It may or may not be incredibly annoying to those around me.
This whole week at work was crazy. And since I can’t take vacation time right now, I went for the next best thing–a weekend vacation. To the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee at Blackberry Farm.
I came here a few months ago and L-O-V-E-D it. Then, ONE WEEK after I left I saw on Emmy Rossum’s Insta Stories that she was there. I missed her by ONE WEEK! Gah. I don’t know if you watch Shameless, but I love Fiona (the character she played)! Also, if you don’t watch Shameless, WHY NOT?! It’s so good! And absolutely bananas. But that’s why it’s good!
Anyway, I missed my chance to meet Emmy Rossum, but I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, and so here we are again. Doing absolutely nothing. Which is exactly what I wanted/needed to do.
I know I could have just stayed at home at did nothing, but could I get this kind of scenery at home?! No. Could I get a heavenly massage, amazing food, and no distractions at home? Nope.
Okay, I’m supposed to be unplugged this weekend so I gotta go. But I will sneak back and post some pictures of the food, which is so beautifully presented that I will absolutely try and fail to copy it at home.
I returned from my work trip on a Thursday, had to go into work on Friday, slept all of Saturday and Sunday, then was back at it again on a Tuesday.
My first work trip abroad was a success! I’m feeling more comfortable and relaxed in my position–not completely comfortable and relaxed–but more, and it’s quite a relief.
I didn’t really get to do anything but work in Germany. I wish I had gotten more pics but–maybe next time! But as you can see, France was a dream. We stayed in the Champagne region where all the world’s champagne is made (otherwise it’s called sparkling wine), and there were vineyards as far as the eye could see. We got to stay at a fancy hotel because my company was doing a collaboration with the hotel, and I may have never been able to stay in such a luxurious place if it weren’t for work.
Next time I’ll tell you about some artwork I bought (online) for the house and have become obsessed with. But I bought some new running shoes and now I have to go get my money’s worth out of them. I’m training for a marathon next year–haha, just kidding. I couldn’t even finish that nonsensical sentence, BUT I do have a goal of being able to run a mile in eight minutes or less. I don’t know why. Never having a reason for doing stuff is kinda my thing.
You guys–I don’t mean to sound self-important but–I’m performing on the world stage. I’m not trying to be arrogant. Dems just the facts.
Ok, I just imagined saying that to my grandma and I felt a big slap in the back of my head and came crashing back to earth. I’m okay now.
It’s my first work trip abroad!
We started off in Berlin, and now we’re in Reims, France.
F R A N C E. Pinch me. I had lunch today with two Italian dudes and a French woman. What is happening? Who am I? Not gonna lie–I was sweating profusely the whole time. Glad I didn’t wear my natural deodorant (that’s a story for a different day!).
I don’t really have a bunch of time but I just wanted to drop a few photos (and a hastily cobbled-together video) of my hotel and stuff!
Pretty cool, huh?! There’s a lot of English being spoken in our crew but I want to get back into my French headspace so I can communicate and practice as much as possible while I’m here! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I keep holding it together and don’t humiliate myself!
